Our service at a glance
Our work is delivered through consultation. This involves working collaboratively with pupils, school staff and other key adults in a process of problem solving.
Every school in Walsall has a link Educational Psychologist who provides a core allocation of support.
In addition to a core allocation, the Educational Psychology Service offers the following services on a traded basis:
- Additional individual session

- Development initiatives
Specifically, we offer :
- Support to vulnerable children and young people
- Work with children with complex needs in the early years
- Support to parents and carers to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people
- Long term collaborative interventions at a whole school level
- Bespoke training and project work for school and settings
- Critical incident support
- Central training opportunities
In view of recent legislation, the Educational Psychology Service will offer support to young people, their families and settings, up to the age of twenty five years.
We are constantly updating our training and projects in view of new research and legislation and our links with Birmingham and Nottingham Universities ensure that we provide a continued focus on educational research in Walsall.

Don’t take our word for it
“Working collaboratively with the Educational Psychology Service provided an invaluable dimension to our school development”. Kate Travis, Head Teacher, New Invention Infant School
“Although I was confident that the school had put quality care and support into practice, following a critical incident at my school, I cannot praise highly enough the practical and pragmatic approach that the Educational Psychologist brought to our staff meeting to reassure and advise staff about the ways in which we could support pupils, parents and members of the community- all of whom had been affected”. Gerry Healey, Head Teacher, Park Hall Junior School
“I used to say holidays were the best days of my life but they’re not now. School days are”.
Quote from a previously excluded pupil following solution focussed brief therapy work with the Educational Psychologist
“I have gained a deeper understanding of the children within my class”. Class Teacher
“I can now speak to teachers about their behavioural concerns”. SENCO
